On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development signed at its headquarters in Khartoum, Republic of Sudan, Memorandum of Understanding with the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, This is to enhance cooperation and support the organization’s efforts and activities in improving livelihoods in the states of Darfur in order to build the capacities of the displaced and rural women, by focusing on women’s associations.

His Excellency Professor Ibrahim Adam Ahmed Al Dukhiri, Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, signed on behalf of the organization. On behalf of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, Mr. Mohamed Adam Abdel-Karim signed, general manager of the bank, In the presence of the bank’s legal advisor, Organization’s project coordinator.

This memorandum comes as an extension of the memorandum signed between the organization and the bank in the year 2021 AD. With the aim of enabling producers to obtain the required production inputs and technologies, financing the agricultural operations of the 10 cooperative societies, To contribute to raising production and productivity, stabilizing agricultural systems, and improving the level of income of small producers by supporting them with modern technologies, qualifying them, and training them to use them.

It is worth noting that the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development has started implementing the Livelihood Improvement Program in the states of Darfur in the Republic of Sudan since 2018. In partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Food Program (WFP), The Sudanese Agricultural Bank, the ministries of production and economic resources, and the ministries of agriculture in the states of Darfur.
