A delegation of experts from the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development will participate during the period from 17-20 March 2023 AD, At the meetings of the fifty-fifth conference of the Association of Arab Universities held in the city of Sousse in the Republic of Tunisia, This is under the auspices of the Tunisian Prime Minister and the honor of the Tunisian and Egyptian Ministers of Higher Education and the Governor of the city of Sousse. With the participation of directors of more than 100 Arab universities and representatives of a number of organizations and federations.
During the plenary working sessions, the delegation of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development made an intervention that dealt with the organization’s role in sustainable agricultural development and the achievement of Arab food security through what it is doing within the framework of the goals of the Arab Sustainable Development Strategy 2030, which was approved by the Arab Summit at its 31st session, which was held in Algeria early November 2022 AD. The delegation of the organization also referred in its intervention to the role that the organization has played and is still playing in facing disasters, pandemics, wars and climate changes, which have affected the state of Arab food security. This is what the organization initiated in setting up the Arab Program for the Sustainability of Food Security, which contributes greatly to increasing productivity and production, and contributes to reducing the food gap and benefiting from the comparative advantage enjoyed by Arab countries in order to achieve Arab economic integration.
The intervention also dealt with an explanation about the partnership of Arab labor institutions on food security, which was signed in Tunisia in 2022. Between the organization and the Federation of Arab Universities and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, In addition to the issue of the partnerships that the organization has established with Arab, regional and international organizations in the field of entrepreneurship, digital transformation and Arab forums.
