The joint mission between the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Group of Five Sahel countries completed its awareness-raising tour in the countries of the group covered by the technical and economic feasibility study of the food security program in the countries of the region. It is a jointly funded study by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, which is implementing the study.

In the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, the last stop of the tour, the mission met with the secretaries-general of the ministries concerned with the study and their senior assistants. In order to implement the study as required in the country, and to facilitate the access of the national consultant to the data and information he needs, provided that it reflects the government’s point of view and vision for the program, so that it comes in response to national priorities in this field, which facilitates the monitoring of funding to accelerate access to the implementation stage, and thus access to The results that the program aspires to, represented in achieving resilience of the population and alleviating their suffering in order to obtain food in appropriate quantities and samples.

In this context, the importance of appointing a coordinator for the study at the level of each concerned ministerial sector to be a counterpart to the national expert was stressed. Study Organizing a national workshop at the level of each country, during which the interim national report will be discussed and enriched in order to ensure that its final version responds to the government’s priorities.

At the end of the round, the mission held an evaluation meeting for the entire round in the forged countries, during which the parameters for the next steps were identified, namely the completion of the preparation of national reports for the first stage at the end of February 2023, the organization of national workshops to approve these reports in the middle of next March, and the launch of the second stage of the study. At the beginning of April, and the regional meeting was held to adopt the final report of the study at the end of June, and to begin during the second half of this year to present the program to the funding agencies through the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and the ministries of planning in the member countries, provided that the Arab Organization for Development remains Agriculture provides technical support for the program.
