The Lebanese Prime Minister, H.E Mr. Saad El-Din Rafik Al-Hariri, received the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri, on the 5th of October 2019 at his office accompanied by the Chairman of the Lebanon Fund for Development and Innovation Mr. Marcel Daoud, and the Future Movement Mount Lebanon coordinator, Mr. Walid Serhal.
During the meeting, some issues were discussed, such as the procedures for the implementing several economic projects in Lebanon, in addition to the discussions on implementing the economic zones in Akkar, Al Bekaa and Al-Kharroub region.
H.E Prof El Dukheri said that the document of establishing the project of integrated economic development for the region of El-Khroub in Kefaya in Lebanon (Aklam) has been completed, as well as the necessary studies and implementation mechanisms. The project document has been presented to the Arab financial institutions that welcomed such projects and promised to study the possibility of financing them.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Kharroub project aims to build an integrated economic model for a number of integrated agricultural economic projects such as cattle farms, dairy factories and some food industries that depend on the local products of the region and an environmental tourist complex. The project also contains an entrepreneurship center to train the youth on entrepreneurship and innovation, which will lead to creating sustainable economic development in the region, providing job opportunities for youth and women from the region and encouraging the displaced to return and contribute to the development of their region.
