The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) in collaboration with the International Training Institute of Beekeepers Cooperative Association organized a training course in the field of the Basics of Breeding and Producing Honey Bee Queens, on 24-29 March 2018, in Al Baha, Saudia Arabia.
The participants were (10) specialists from the Ministries of Agriculture and related authorities in UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
The course dealt with a number of lectures on the improvement of bee breeds, the process of selecting and breeding queens, methods of breeding queens naturally and industrially, post-breeding operations, as well as practical and field applications in laboratories and complexes.
In his speech at the opening session, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khazam Al-Ghamdi, the General Supervisor of the International Training Institute of Beekeepers Cooperative Association, spoke about the efforts exerted by the Institute for developing the bee industry in the Arab region and raise the skills of specialists and practitioners of bee keeping. He thanked AOAD for its trust in the Institute and its employees and welcomed all participants, noting that during the training there will be tours to visit some of the beekeeping sites and tourist places in the area.
