The Steering Committee of the National Program for the Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases in the Arab Region kicked off on the 26th of November 2019


The third and final meeting of the Arab Steering Committee of the National Program for Combating Transboundary Animal Diseases in the Arab Region (Phase II) organized by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) kicks off on Tuesday 26 November 2019 in Khartoum, Sudan. The participants are donors and counterpart funding institutions, including the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), international and regional organizations as observers, the G5 Sahel and the participation of (12) experts of livestock managers in the Arab countries (Jordan - Bahrain - Tunisia - Algeria - Saudi Arabia - Sudan - Oman - Iraq - Palestine - Qatar - Libya - Comoros and Yemen.

The third and final meeting of the Steering Committee aims at presenting an integrated presentation on the achievements of the program during its work for the last three years, and the report of the external evaluation team that evaluated this stage, and launching a new third phase where a document is presented to combat transboundary diseases in the Arab and African regions aiming to improve the efficiency of trade of live animals and their products, and to integrate real partnerships between regional and international organizations working in the field of control of transboundary animal diseases, in order to accelerate the implementation of control strategies and strengthen the Arab and African cooperation and. This phase will continue for five years, starting by 2020 and ending in 2024.
