The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a training course on the “Methodology of Preparing Statistical Data of Agricultural and Fishery Volumes in the Arab Region” during the 4th to the 6th of August 2018 AOAD’s headquarters in Khartoum, Sudan. The participants were 18 trainees from Arab cadres working in the field of agricultural statistics in the countries of the Middle East, Mashreq and the Arabian Gulf (Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Palestine and Lebanon).
The course aim was to prepare a trained Arab cadre in the field of agricultural and fishery statistics. The course conveyed means to review and update the components of the agricultural and fisheries statistics and consolidate concepts and terminology collection forms, design easy-to-use electronic forms and to develop a roadmap for the development and improvement of agricultural and fishery statistics. Moreover, adopt international statistical methods and standards for knowledge management in relation to the sustainable development goals.
The importance of this course came within the framework of AOAD’s desire to enhance its ability to obtain agricultural statistical data and accurate information in its specified timeframe, reduce the inconsistencies in the agricultural statistical data issued by AOAD and those issued by other organizations, to identify the problems and obstacles faced by statistical data collectors and Solutions.
