The Director-General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam Dukheri launched a training course in the field of “Preparing Arab Food Security Reports” and Indicators of Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab Region on the 7th to the 9th of August 2018 at the premises of AOAD in Khartoum, Sudan.

The course came within the framework of cooperation between the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The participants were (21) Arab cadres working in the field of food security in the countries of the Middle East, Mashreq and the Arabian Gulf (Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt).

The course aim was to raise the capacity of the staff in preparing food security reports and follow up the implementation of the sustainable development goals 2030 in the Arab region. As well as to review and update the components of the data collection form which was created for the Arab food security report. The problems and constraints facing AOAD in obtaining country data and information on food security situations and the proposed solutions to overcome them were also tackled.
