The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Director General H.E Prof Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri participated in the activities of the third edition of the Arab Sustainable Development Week. The event was organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States during the period from 3 to 6 November 2019, under the theme “Integrated partnership for a sustainable future” in partnership with the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and the European Union.

During H.E Prof El Dukheri participation in the session under the topic "The role of organizations and institutions of Arab joint action in achieving the 2030 development goals", he stressed that AOAD paid special attention to the development and management of natural resources and the promotion of human resources available in these sectors.

During H.E Prof El Dukheri pointed out that AOAD is striving to achieve its objectives of facilitating Arab agricultural trade and increasing agricultural and fishery production to achieve Arab food security, in addition to supporting the establishment of agricultural, fisheries projects and industries, facing the food crisis and enhancing food security.

 Moreover to the development and protection of natural resources and raise the efficiency of agricultural productivity and support Arab agricultural integration and improve the living standards of workers in agriculture. He explained that AOAD has established many specialized agricultural networks and databases to serve the agricultural sectors and to strengthen partnerships with Arab, regional and international organizations.

 H.E Prof El Dukheri stressed that AOAD has been working since its establishment in 1970 to contribute by its expertise and resources to enhance, promote cooperation and integration among Arab countries in the sectors that fall within the AOAD’s mandate, in particular the fields of agricultural development, both plant and animal to achieve sustainable Arab food security.

The Arab Week for Sustainable Development comes within the framework of trying to unify all Arab countries' efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in addition to providing a framework for high-level regional dialogue to discuss and present ways of implementing these plans while creating a supportive international and regional climate.

It is worth mentioning that the activities of the second day of the week witnessed the launch of “Voice of Egypt Summit”, an initiative adopted by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to support Arab countries with programs and activities in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to emphasize to the Arab government policy makers the importance of adopting the SDGs and making it part of the national development strategy.
