The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) held the national training course on genetic improvement using the artificial insemination technology for local Sudanese goats in crossbreeding with the improved male Shami goats, in cooperation with the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) during the period from 22/9 to 2/10/2019, at the General Directorate of Animal Resources hall in Nyala, South Darfur, Sudan. The participants were (19) trainees specialized in the fields of veterinary and animal production, from the states of North, South and West Darfur.
The Director General of AOAD H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri addressed the participants on the components of the livelihoods improvement project in Darfur states, the current status of the activities implementation, and the future vision of improving livestock productivity.
The representative of ACSAD, Dr. Mohamed Musa spoke about the training program and its contents, the expected benefit and the importance of genetic improvement throughout natural selection in increasing production and productivity.
The training course is part of the Darfur Livelihood Improvement Program, implemented by AOAD with a number of international organizations (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Food Program (WFP) and the Joint Humanitarian and Development Assistance Mechanism in Sudan.
