The Director-General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) H.E Professor Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri headed the first enlightening meeting for Sudan International Food Safety Conference 2019 (SIFSC) under the theme "Towards safe and sustainable food " organized by AOAD in collaboration with the Government of Sudan, the Sudanese Food Safety Association (SUFOSA)-United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization “The Arab Food Safety Initiative for Trade Facilitation (SAFE)”, the Arab Federation for Food Industries (AFFI), which will be held from the 8th to the 10th of April 2019 in Khartoum, Sudan, at the Friendship Hall.
The aim of the conference is to develop legislative environment related to food safety and adapting it to the regional and international standards and regulations necessary to keep up with the global trends towards achieving the sustainable development goals (2030) and enhancing the competitiveness of Sudanese food commodities in order to reach regional and global markets.
The conference will review a number of topics such as legislation and laws related to food safety, organization and institutional coordination of the technical bodies concerned with food safety in Sudan, technologies and good practices in the field of food safety and trade systems in food commodities and food products, beside
the successful experiences in strengthening food safety systems (international-regional countries).
The conference will include several relevant governmental institutions, international and regional organizations working in the area of food safety, relevant educational institutions, relevant universities, centers and research institutes, as well as national, regional and international private sector institutions involved in the production, processing and marketing of food and civil society institutions which are concerned with the safety of food inside and outside Sudan as well as a number of international experts to present successful experiences in the field of food safety.
