The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized, within the Arab Program for Agriculture and Fisheries Training(APAFT), a training course in Cairo, Egypt, 8-12/09/2013, on artificial insemination in small ruminants.The course was attended by (24) technical personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Egypt.
The training program included lectures on the economic importance of artificial insemination in sheep and goats, optimum methods for selection of males in small ruminants for the purpose of breeding, various methods for collection, laboratory evaluation and storage of semen as well as evaluation of frozen semen. It also included a practical session on artificial insemination in sheep and goats beside illustration of ways of using ultra sound equipment to detect pregnancy in small ruminants and the use of modern techniques to promote their reproductive performance.
Lectures and practicals were offered by competent artificial insemination scientists from the Reproduction Research Institute at the Egyptian Agricultural Research Centre.
