A training course jointly organized by AOAD
and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA)
on the "Preparation, Analysis and Evaluation of Agricultural
Projects" was inaugurated on Sunday 6/4/2014 at AOAD
regional office for the central region, Cairo, Egypt. The
training course was attended by participants from (14)
Anglophone African countries i.e. Angola, Eritrea, Gambia,
Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria,
seychelles, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
In his opening speech Dr. Al-Zadjali,
the Director General of AOAD, welcomed the participating
African trainees, expressing AOAD and BADEA's keenness to
encourage and promote African-Arab cooperation in the fields
of agriculture and food security, focusing mainly on human
resources development.
He expressed hope that the general
secretariat of the League of Arab States (LAS) and the
commission of the African Union would take genuine steps to
activate the facilitation Unit of the Joint Acton Plan (JAP)
for agricultural development and food security in Africa and
the Arab region, as approved by the African-Arab Summit,
Sirt, Libya, 2010 , and thereafter re-emphasized by the
African Arab summit of Kuwait 2013, naming AOAD as the host
of the Facilitation Unit.
Dr. Al-Zadjali has also expressed his
thanks and appreciation to the General Manager of BADEA
commending the role played by BADEA in facilitating the
holding of the training course and similar courses through
provision of funds and logistical support. He further valued
BADEA's support to AOAD and their partnership in the area of
HRD in agriculture and food security in the African
continent.
