The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a training course in the field of “Designing epidemiological surveys and data analysis for three diseases (foot-and-mouth disease, brucellosis fever, Rift Valley Fever) from the 22nd to the 26th of April 218 in Bahrain. The participants were cadres from the Bahraini Ministry of Works and Municipalities Affairs.
The course aimed to build the trainees capacity and develop their skills in designing epidemiological surveys of transboundary diseases (FMD, Brucella fever, RVF), leading to increased experience and knowledge, predicting their behavior and prevalence, as well as identifying the best options for disposal or control based on analysis of the data obtained through these surveys.
It is worth mentioning that the course was implemented within the framework of the continuous cooperation between AOAD and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development.
The livestock sector has a major role in achieving food security. AOAD played an effective role in the field of training Arab cadres in controlling transboundary animal diseases, because of the obvious impact on food security and trade, as well as their direct impact on human health.
