The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a training course in the field of Designing Epidemiological Surveys and Foot-and-Mouth Disease Data Analysis during 6-10 May 2018 in Cairo, Egypt. The participants were about 12 trainees from the surveillance doctors from the different governorates in Egypt.
The training program included introduction to epidemiological surveys, how to design a surveillance system for foot and mouth disease, analysis of outputs, how to prioritize diseases under surveillance, how to design case definition, design a questionnaire for data collection, sampling and sample size calculation, data analysis and presentation, make a report on surveillance data for foot-and-mouth disease and evaluation of surveillance program.
The course aimed to increase the efficiency of veterinarians at the Surveillance and Epidemiology Units for foot and mouth disease through identifying the types of surveys for foot and mouth disease, data collection, how to deal with data, analyze them and report to decision makers to reduce and control disease from spread.
