(TOT) Training Course in the field of

Epidemiological Mapping and Early Warning

of Rift Valley Fever Disease

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) held a TOT training course in the field of "“Epidemiological Mapping and Early Warning of Rift Valley Fever Disease (RVF) ", on 25-29 March 2018 at the headquarters of AOAD in Khartoum, Sudan. The participants were 15 Arab veterinarians from Jordan, UAE, Algeria, Tunisia, Somalia, Sudan, Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, and Comoros.

AOAD Director General H.E Prof Ibrahim Adam EL Dukheri, said that despite precautionary measures taken by the Arab countries, epidemiological and especially transboundary diseases continue to pose a major threat to the livestock sector, which requires intensive efforts among neighboring countries and organizations working in this field to work according to the global framework to control transboundary animal diseases, most notably RVF.

The organization of this training course came within the framework of the implementation of the national project that builds the capacity of combating RVF. AOAD implemented this course as part of the three projects of the National Program for Controling Transboundary Animal Diseases in the Arab Region, in order to enhance regional cooperation among the Arab countries to exchange experiences and build the capacity of national cadres in Arab countries.

The course program included lectures and practical applications covering 27 topics that were important in the preparation of epidemiological maps and early warning of RVF disease.
