The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) in cooperation with the International Training Institute of Beekeepers Cooperative Association organized a training course in the field of Artificial Insemination of Honey Bee Queens, on the 14th to the 19th of April 2018 in AL Baha, Saudia Arabia. The participants were 13 Beekeeping specialists from Ministries of Agriculture in the Gulf countries (GCC).
This course aimed at introducing participants to the artificial insemination technique of honey bee queens, targeting the specialists in the field of scientific research.
The training program included a number of topics, including the definition of the importance of technology in the development of honey bee breeds and ways to benefit from them, the specifications of queens, methods and tools for breeding queens, the basis of selection of breeding cells of royal queens, methods and production of queens commercially and methods of vaccination for breeding queens and preparation of vaccination room and tools, practical applications and laboratory for all stages of automatic pollination and the factors affecting the quality of fertilized queens.
