Training Course in the field of Aquaculture

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a training course in the field of Aquaculture, from the 24th to the 28th of February 2019, at the premises of the Arab Program for Freshwater Aquaculture in Al Shagara area, Khartoum, Sudan. The participants were 25 cadres of veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary quarantine technicians working at the border crossings.

The course aimed to raise the capacity of private sector fish farmers by introducing them to the modern methods of intensive and regular fish farming, and raising fish with floating cages, soil and cement basins.

The course also included theoretical lectures in the field of selection criteria for the location of fish farms - how to prepare and operate them, as well as identification of the criteria for selecting cages sites, their design, operation and management methods and the definition of its components.

It is worth mentioning that the course program included a field visit to the workshop for the manufacture and installation of floating cages and a farm of floating cages in White Nile River. The participants were introduced to the the types of cages and nets used.
