The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) participated as a regional partner and organizer in the Arab Food Industries Forum on Food Safety and Trade Facilitation, which was held under the theme "The Role of Arab Food Industries in Enhancing Food Safety and Facilitating Inter-Arab Trade". The forum was organized by the Arab Union for Food Industries and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), during the period 4 - 5/3/2019, in Amman, Jordan.

The forum discussed all issues related to the Arab food industry in terms of production, storage, processing, safety, trade and consumption, while focusing on the future needs in the field of food safety in selected sectors such as oils, dairy products, meat, vegetables and fruits, food safety in packaging, food safety in intra-trade. Moreover, the role of the private sector towards the Arab Food Industries in promoting food safety and stimulating intra-Arab trade from the regional and international points of view and exchanging views on best practices.

AOAD presented a paper entitled "Efforts of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in Enhancing Food Safety in the Arab Region". The paper tackled the role of AOAD in food safety and facilitation of intra-Arab trade. It also referred to the Sudan International Food Safety Conference, which will aim to contribute to the development of food safety control mechanisms, by strengthening the legislative structure and laws necessary to ensure food safety.

It is worth mentioning that AOAD was honored during the forum for its significant role in promoting and supporting the efforts of the Arab countries in achieving food security and food safety.

 More than 300 participants from 13 countries participated in the forum as well as many international, regional and Arab specialized organizations.
