The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) launched a training course in the field of Developing Agricultural Quarantine Procedures and rapid diagnosis of pests and diseases, on 7-11 October 2018, in Bahrain. The participants were 30 trainees from different departments and directorates of the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning.
The course aimed at training and qualifying cadres working in the field of agricultural quarantine. The course included several issues on agricultural quarantine, definitions of terms to understand phytosanitary measures and their adopted standards and how to apply them on the ground.
The trainees were also introduced to the international Quarantine policies and the most important international phytosanitary standards in pest risk analysis, as well as the activities of the quarantine and its legal framework were also presented. It is worth mentioning that AOAD organized this course to activate the agricultural quarantine for its great role in preventing the danger of diseases that enter the Arab countries.
