The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) held the 6th meeting with the Arab delegations during the 14th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, on Sunday the 25th of November 2018, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, with the participation of the Arab delegations.
At the beginning of the meeting, the AOAD representative gave a presentation on the outcome of the negotiations at the conference on Thursday, November 22, 2018. The meeting then discussed its agenda on the follow-up of the negotiations. The discussions focused in particular on preparing the upcoming meeting between the Executive Secretary and the Arab Group. AOAD was appointed to submeit a suggestion on the points to be discussed with the Executive Secretary.
The Arab Group also discussed the issue of appointing a spokesperson for the Arab Group during the meetings, commending the interventions of other the countries and reviewing the preparations for the forthcoming Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (animals & plants), to be held in Sri Lanka in 2019, and coincides with the date currently set for the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, which requires action from the Arab countries to postpone this conference after the month of Ramadan, taking into account the conditions of participants from Arab and Islamic countries.
