The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) participated in the 42nd session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean on the 22nd of October 2018, at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Rome, Italy.
The 42nd session of the Commission discussed the measures for the protection of vulnerable ecosystems, conservation of sharks and rays, and fisheries management measures in Mediterranean, including deep-water red shrimp.
The participants were twenty six (26) countries and the European Union, four (4) FAO Regional Projects, five (5) Intergovernmental Organizations and ten (10) Non-governmental Organizations.
The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean during the 42nd session of the Commission. The agreement included supporting sustainable aquaculture development and promoting the role of small-scale fisheries.
