The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), represented by its Bureau for the Arab Mashreq and the Central Region, participated in the regional seminar for launching and strategic planning "Gender and Trade: Achievements and Aspirations ", which was held in Amman / Jordan during the period 2-3 / 7/2019 and organized by the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research / In cooperation with the Jordanian National Commission for Women in partnership with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
The symposium came within the framework of the project "Empowering women to achieve equality in the Middle East and North Africa", where the focus of the implementation of the project on supporting the regional efforts to support gender as it is weak in the ability to deepen women in various sectors, including trade and gender entry at different levels. Six Arab countries participated in the implementation of the project: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.
During the seminar, a presentation was made on the empowerment of women to achieve equality in the MENA region through gender mainstreaming in economic policies, trade agreements and policies, exchange of experiences among development actors with rights and duties holders, exchange of knowledge and building evidence for political dialogu and develop a national and regional strategic framework on gender and trade as a vision for the future.
