The Director-General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri, held a working session on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at the Permanent Secretariat of the Group of Sahel Countries in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, and the Permanent Secretary of the Group of Five Sahel States, Mr. Mahaman Siddiquo Sambaz.
The meeting tackled the reality and perspectives of cooperation between the three sides. The discussion focused in particular on the follow-up to the financial promises given at the Nouakchott Summit in December 2018.
The Permanent Secretary gave a brief on AOAD efforts and the important steps that were implemented.
A presentation was presented around combating transboundary diseases which was proposed by AOAD for the benefit of some Arab and African countries.
The Permanent Secretary expressed the importance of this program to the countries of the Group and praised the initiative of AOAD to develop this program, which is at the core of the priorities of the Permanent Secretariat of the Group. It was agreed to establish an executive program for this program at the level of the first region, Algeria, Libya and Sudan. AOAD shall convene a meeting in its office in Algeria before the end of 2019.
