The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) launched on Sunday 1/10/2017 a training course "Applications of Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing in Agriculture and Fisheries" for 22 cadres from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Oman during the period 1-5 / 10/2017.
The program aims to enable the participants to use the (Arc-GIS) program to introduce, store, analyze, and produce quality maps and databases at the national and country levels.
The training program included lectures on the basics of remote sensing and GIS applications in the agricultural and fish sector, the characteristics of satellite images, remote sensing applications in agriculture, theoretical lectures, practical training on the use of GIS programs and the most important programs used and how to compile the required data.
It is worth mentioning that the AOAD gives special attention to the development and qualifying technical capabilities in the Arab countries on the use of GIS techniques and applications in the field of agricultural development and related fields to support achieve the objectives of sustainable development, assist researchers in conducting researches and studies, provide consultancies and participate in research projects .
