On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, during the 14th Conference of the Parties in India, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Director General H.E Prof Ibrahim El Dukheri met the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
H.E Prof El Dukheri held a working session with the Mauritanian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development Her Excellency Mrs. Mariam Bekai, during which he extended his congratulations to Her Excellency the Minister on the occasion of her recent leadership in Mauritania.
H.E Prof El Dukheri also held a meeting
with the delegation of the Global Forest Forum participating
in the conference. During the meeting discussions it was
agreed to establish a partnership between the Forum and
AOAD.
The Heads of the delegations expressed their gratitude to H.E Prof El Dukheri for AOAD's concerns generally in the field of environment and desertification in particular.
Participants anticipated that AOAD will focus during the next phase on building the capacity of Arab negotiators in the contact groups as it did for the general negotiation, and seek to find effective solutions to the problem of funding programs prepared by Arab countries under the Convention.
H.E Prof El Dukheri expressed his understanding to these legitimate aspirations, stressing that the support of Member States in the implementation of the Convention will continue to be of particular interest to the General Directorate of AOAD.
