The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) has participated in the 9th Regional Forum for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in West Asia, which was held at the Jumeirah Hotel in Kuwait from 9-11 / 9/2019 under the patronage of the Minister of State for Economic Affairs, H.E Mrs. Maryam Al-Aqeel.
The forum aimed to support and develop the position of the member states in the International Union for Conservation of Nature in West Asia and to prepare regional action plans in preparation for the World Conference on the Conservation of Nature to be held in France next year.
The Jordanian Minister of Environment and Agriculture, H.E Mr Ibrahim Al-Shehadeh and Chairman of the General Assembly of AOAD, said in his speech that environmental issues are a global concern because of their importance in the general level of life, pointing out that there are many international agreements and local efforts in order to deal properly with the environment to achieve environmental sustainability.
For his part, President of IUCN Mr Zhang Xing said in his speech that these forums are of great importance as they help decision makers.
The three-day forum was attended by more than 180 participants from Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to international and civil society organizations.
