The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Director General H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri, inaugurated the two national training courses in the fields of rural women's development and their impact on economic empowerment and the value chain of agricultural products from the 27th to the 31st of October 2019 at the headquarters of the AOAD in Khartoum, Sudan. The participants were 50 trainees from the cadres of the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The topics of the first session included the introduction to the concepts, mechanisms and methods of economic empowerment of rural women, identifying ways of linking types, areas and methods of empowerment, as well as defining the concept of cooperative societies, their activities and their role in economic empowerment in areas of women's work.
The second session introduced the concept of value theory and value chains to agricultural products, the theoretical framework of the agricultural value chain approach and the importance of the value chain in achieving development in developing countries.
The participants received a practical application of computer programs, as well as an identification of the linkages between agricultural value chains and the sustainable development agenda for Africa.
