The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) inaugurated the national training course in the field Irrigation, Water Harvesting, Combating Desertification and Raising Environmental awareness in cooperation with the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, from 27th to the 31st of October 2019 in Algeria. The participants were 25 trainees working at the ministry.

 The course addressed the importance of water conservation as an important economic resource and AOAD’s efforts in the field of water, identified the bases of assessment of the hydrological process and the issue of desertification in the Arab world and ways of combating it.

 Moreover, the course introduced the participants to the basics of designing and selecting water harvesting facilities and how to overcome the problems of implementation in harvesting facilities. Models for water harvesting and economic feasibility in Arab countries were presented during the session.
