The AOAD inaugurated the national training course on "Challenges to Sustainable Agricultural Development in Dry Areas and the Technologies and Initiatives Available for Confronting Challenges" during the period from the 5th till the 7th of November 2017, targeting the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in Qatar.
The training course aimed to introduce the participants with the importance of sustainable development and its components, defined the objectives of sustainable development and the objectives related to agriculture and their interrelations and discussed the concept of food security.
The program also addressed the concept of sustainable agricultural development and its application in drylands, challenges and treatment options and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). At the end of the course, participants were introduced to the sustainable Arab agricultural development strategy for the two decades (2005-2025). An overview of the natural resources and sustainable development of the agricultural sector in Qatar was also presented.
