The Director-General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development H.E Prof Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri, participated in the meetings of the 4th session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, held in Nairobi, Kenya on 14-15 March 2019.
H.E Prof El Dukheri held several with some dignitaries with prominent roles in the environmental work, such as Her Excellency Ms. Yasmine Salaheddine Fouad Abdelaziz, Egyptian Minister of Environment, H.E Mr Atiyo Ibrahima, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), H.E Ms. Akristana Essa Palmer, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, Mr. Sami Damas, Director of the United Nations Regional Office for the Environment in Western Asia, Dr Hamad Alla Hafiz the former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and is the current adviser to the Egyptian Minister of Environment.
H.E Prof El Dukheri discussions with these figures focused on the importance of AOAD to environmental issues in all its dimensions, especially desertification and biodiversity, in view of the Arab region's vulnerability to these phenomena. Moreover, he presented what AOAD has implemented in this filed and the future plans, stressing the keenness of AOAD to establish fruitful relations with all partners involved in these areas at the national, regional and international levels. On the other side the concerned officials expressed their willingness to cooperate with AOAD.
