The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) participated in a workshop under the theme "Future Vision for the Promotion of Citrus Crops in Egypt", the workshop was held at the Horticultural Research Institute at the Agricultural Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Egypt in February 2019.

During the workshop several issues were discussed such as; the most important problems of citrus production and export, citrus exports between present and future, horticultural processes and their impact on the quality of fruits of citrus and the most important insect pests affecting citrus.

 At the end of the workshop, the participants stressed the need to follow some important technical measures in the field of improving the citrus crop in Egypt to obtain a high quality crop with economic return for farmers, the importance of obtaining citrus seedlings free of viruses and applying the European Union standards on farms to increase the exports to the European countries. Moreover, to maximize the utilization of the crop through agricultural processing, in addition to the importance of establishing an association of citrus producers and growers in Egypt and the circulation of citrus through a specialized agricultural market exchange.
