The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) carried out a training course on the ''use of biotechnologies in pest control'' in Egypt. The participants were (25) trainees from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt. The course was from the 19th till the 22nd of November 2107.
The course was divided into four parts. The first part was an introduction to the basics of biological control on agricultural pests and pathogens in insects. The second part dealt with how to use nanoparticles and genetic engineering in pest control. The third part was about the latest trends in biological control. The fourth part, addressed the global experiences in the biological control of agricultural pests, and also addressed the obstacles and implementation problems.
The training program aimed to introduce the trainees to methods of protecting the environment from the dangers of traditional pesticides use in the Egyptian agriculture. Moreover, the speeding up of pest control activities by using biotechnologies to obtain safe pollution-free agricultural product and reduce costs of pest control.
