During the last day of the 3rd Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) H.E Prof Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri conducted several activities.

 He participated in the closing event. A number of resolutions were issued. The most important one was the Ministerial Declaration, which contained the main guidelines for the work of the United Nations Environment Program over the next two years, in particular with regard to the measures and actions to be taken to achieve a "pollution-free world".

H.E Prof El Dukhiri held a working meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Ms. Cristiana Pasca Palmer. The discussions covered the outcomes of the AOAD's activities in this area such as the networks the AOAD established in the field of plant, animal and forestry genetic resources, regulations and guidelines. In this context, H.E Prof El Dukhiri expressed the AOAD's intention to participate in the activities of the next Conference of the Parties to the Convention in November that will be held for the first time in an Arab country, in Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh. During this conference a side event will be organized reflecting the achievements of the AOAD. The discussion also covered granting the AOAD the convention membership as an observer. Ms. Palmer expressed her readiness to strengthen cooperation with the AOAD in the field of biological diversity.

H.E Prof El Dukhiri held a working meeting with the Commissioner for Rural Development in the African Union. The discussion dealt with the cooperation between the AU and AOAD. The meeting also discussed the need to accelerate the processing of projects to be presented to the Arab, African and International funding bodies. The meeting also discussed the timing and venue of the next meeting of the Steering Committee of the Arab-African Joint Plan for Agricultural Development and Food Security.
