The Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), H.E Prof Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri and his accompanying delegation were received by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates at the premises of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Monday the 22nd of October 2018.
H.E Dr. Al Zeyoudi, stressed the importance of the role of AOAD and its efforts to achieve sustainable agricultural development in the Arab region.
The two sides discussed the strengthening of cooperation frameworks between AOAD and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, with emphasis on the support provided by the Ministry for the efforts of the AOAD to obtain funding for some regional projects such as the Transboundary Animal Diseases, Small Ruminant Pest Control Project. Moreover, support AOAD in international events.
The two sides also discussed the use of modern technologies in agriculture in the UAE and the possibility of supporting AOAD to spread it among its member countries such technologies, are GIS applications and vertical agriculture as well as energy, water and food projects (Nexus).
H.E Dr. Al Zeyoudi expressed the readiness of his ministry to provide all the necessary support to AOAD in the regional and international events which work within the competence of AOAD due to its leading role in promoting food security and sustainable development in the Arab region.
H.E Prof |El Dukheri stressed AOAD’s keenness to create joint cooperation with its member countries and regional and international organizations working in the fields of agricultural development and livestock.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed on the principle of holding the 2nd Inter-Regional Smart Agriculture Forum (ISAF 2019) in October 2019 along with the SIAL Middle East Conference under the high patronage of the United Arab Emirates and implementing the objectives of the UAE 2030 Green Agenda.
